In 2007, Northumberland Dairy celebrated its 65th anniversary and its proud heritage of serving the people of New Brunswick with quality dairy products. Northumberland Co-operative Dairy invested in a multi-million dollar expansion of its operations in Miramichi adding 25,000 square feet of milk cooler and office space. In 2002 Northumberland Dairy purchased Graham Farms. Northumberland MAX! cranberry cocktail, an innovative new product is recognized by Canadian Council of Grocery Distributors. In 2000, Northumberland expanded its production facilities. In 1999, Northumberland was awarded by the Province of New Brunswick the highest stand of quality in large manufacturing. In 1997, Northumberland received a license by Environment Canada to use the Ecologo on its 4L milk bags. Northumberland is the first dairy in Atlantic Canada to participate in the program which encourages demand for and supply of environmentally responsible product. Northumberland Co-operative Dairy Limited was highlighted in Canadian Dairy magazine in September 1997, as an innovator in Canadian Dairy foods and packaging. It became the first dairy in Atlantic Canada to change from a conventional gable top milk carton to a carton with a screw cap top. In 1995 Northumberland expanded its frozen food storage facility by erecting a new building, and tripling their existing space. The unique rack support building has no structural steel and is supported solely by the racks inside. In 1991, Northumberland expanded its distribution capabilities through the acquisition of two dairies. This enabled Northumberland to have the most extensive distribution network in the province, covering all areas in the region and offering home delivery to major areas in the province. Northumberland was the first dairy in New Brunswick to introduce extended shelf life cream in the gable top carton, a standard in the industry today. Northumberland believes its biggest asset are its employees.
