The Expansion Years (1975 - 1992)
Before the Fire
1947
Expansion, continued construction
1950
Outgrown its existing facilities and plans to move operation.
1951
Construction of new buildings began in what is now the current site, Lawlor Lane, Miramichi,
New Brunswick.
1955-1975
The Lawlor Lane site was further developed with the addition of new buildings and equipment.
Advances were made in operational techniques to enhance production and promote greater competitiveness.
Further growth was evident with the taking over of existing dairies in northeastern New Brunswick
and acquisition of land.
1955
Northumberland Co-operative opened a feed business and was further expanded in 1974 into a hardware
building supply centre.
1959
A new garage to service a growing fleet of trucks was erected.
So the Lawlor Lane site prospered with the purchase of more land, more equipment, and more trucks
and with the construction of new facilities it was rapidly becoming one of the largest employers
in the area.
