If you want to enjoy more pure New Brunswick products you can find them in the refrigerated section of your local grocery store or market. The people involved in bringing you these new products include a New Brunswick processor, and local growers and producers. They gathered recently with consumers to celebrate and taste the new Northumberland Max Blueberry Cranberry Apple and Northumberland Max Apple Cranberry real fruit beverages.

"It takes a great tasting product, determination, teamwork and a little something unique to make it in the highly competitive, multi million dollar juice market today", said Jack Christie General Manager of Northumberland Dairy as he lifted his glass of juice in a toast to launch the new products. Northumberland had a winner in the "Northumberland Max!" Cranberry product when they introduced it in 2002, and it instantly became a finalist across Canada in the Canadian Grand Prix product awards. "Consumers want healthy products, more flavours and we want to help create jobs and keep jobs in the New Brunswick agricultural sector," continued Christie. This is an area that compliments Northumberland's existing business of processing and packaging quality products from its plant in Miramichi, New Brunswick.

A well-known brand, Verger Belliveau Orchard is a partner in this venture by supplying their quality apples for further processing at the Northumberland plant. "This opportunity gives Verge Belliveau Orchard another point of sale for its' apples," said owner Robert Bourgeois a local grower from Memramcook, New Brunswick. "It helps us to generate more revenue and create more jobs", Bourgeois continued.

A long time partner and supplier of cranberries and blueberries Benoit Richard, owner of Richard Cranberry has a history in the creation of the "Northumberland Max!" products," said Christie. Richard also instrumental in setting up a retail outlet for farmers to sell their products, the Dieppe Farmers market sells the full line of "Northumberland Max!" products.

"The market supports local co-operatives like Northumberland Dairy and it is always looking for new local products," said George Wybouw, Acting director of the Market. The Dieppe Farmers market has been successful in attracting more than 6 000 shoppers every Saturday morning.

Retailers are supporting Northumberland Max! they see a growing demand for these type of products and research supports the health benefits of cranberries and blueberries. The "Northumberland Max!" products are being sold at Sobeys and Co-op grocery stores across New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island.

Northumberland has a long history, over 60 years in the province as a dairy and beverage processor and it is further diversifying and expanding its product offerings in the juice beverages with the help of its many partners. "There is always room for new products to help grow our business," said Christie, "the best ideas come from our customers and employees." Northumberland Dairy is a locally owned and operated co-operative run by a Board of Directors made up of members and farmers from New Brunswick.
