The program, which received funding from the Department of Wellness, Culture and Sportメs Active Communities Grant Program, encourages participants to use the Sentier NB Trail in their community to complete their journey, although participants can also count the use of any and all community trails towards the completion of their goal. ムWellness Passportsメ will be provided by the NB Trails Council Inc. to help individuals track their progress. There are five sections of trail to complete, representing the entire provincial walking/cycling trail, a total of about 550 km. Participants will be able to not only get out and get active, but also learn some handy tips on living a more healthy life. There will also be a calorie calculator included on the passport for people to be able to figure out calories burned while on the trail. モThis is an exciting new program that will help New Brunswickers become more active,ヤ said Premier Shawn Graham, Minister of Wellness, Culture and Sport. モIn order for our province to become self-sufficient, we must become a well province, and an important component of wellness is physical activity.ヤ モDeveloping the Passport to Wellness program has provided the New Brunswick Trails Council Inc. with not only an opportunity to promote wellness, but also to create awareness of the wonderful asset we have in the Sentier NB Trail,ヤ said NB Trails Council Inc. President Brian Clark. The program is designed for anyone who wants to improve their health and well-being. It is great for walking/cycling groups, weight loss groups, workplace wellness groups or even families. The Sentier NB Trail is a trail designed for everyone. With only a three per cent grade in most areas, the trail is accessible to all who wish to use it. Cost for users of the program is $5, $2 of which goes towards becoming a member of the New Brunswick Trails Council Inc.
